Stockport 2-0 Grimsby

Blue Square Bet Premier

Stockport secured their first league win in seven matches with a comfortable victory over Grimsby.

The visitors began well with Rob Duffy forcing a fingertip save from County goalkeeper Matthew Glennon.

The home side took the lead when Daniel Rowe's cross found Sean McConville, who capitalised on Jamie Green's slip to fire inside the far post.

McConville then turned provider, crossing for Tom Elliot to head in his third of the season.

POST-MATCH VERDICT

Grimsby Town manager Paul Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside:

"We've backed the team before and said we felt we'd been unlucky, but we can't say that today.

"We go behind and we didn't really do enough to try and get back in it

"It was almost like we turned up today because we had to. We hardly put a tackle in until we made the substitutions."
