Gresty Road must be a fortress, says Crewe's Dugdale

Adam Dugdale wants Crewe Alexandra to make Gresty Road a more difficult place for opposing teams to visit.

The Alex, who had the third-best home record in League Two last season, have claimed back-to-back 3-1 home wins against Oxford United and Barnet.

Defender Dugdale, 24, told BBC Radio Stoke: "We want to try and make this a fortress and we're trying our best.

"We were disappointed to lose the first two here. We did well at home last year and we want to continue that."

Crewe won 13 of their 23 home matches during the 2010/11 season, with only champions Chesterfield and Accrington boasting a better home record.

After starting the campaign with four straight defeats, Dario Gradi's side have now won their last three games in League Two.

Dugdale ended the long wait for his first professional goal in the victory over Barnet on Saturday, after the goal he thought he had scored against Port Vale last season was eventually credited to striker Shaun Miller.

"I thought I had the one against Vale and then I came in on the Monday morning and found out that Miller had taken it off me, but that's fine," said Dugdale.

"I'm just really pleased to have my first league goal now. It's been a long time coming but hopefully a few more can come."

BBC Radio Stoke will have live commentary of Burton v Crewe on 1503 medium wave and DAB from 1945 BST on Tuesday, 13 September.
