Celtic striker Anthony Stokes is determined to maximise the European reprieve the club has been given.

The Glasgow side were reinstated to this season's Europa League at the expense of Swiss side Sion.

Sion's appeal against their expulsion for fielding ineligible players against Celtic will be held on Tuesday, 48 hours before the opening group match.

"We're not worried about Tuesday. If anything happens, it happens," Stokes told BBC Scotland.

Stokes insists the fact the final decision will not be made until just 48 hours before their group opener at Atletico Madrid does not affect him or his team-mates.

"We're focussing on the game and that's all we're really worried about," he told BBC Scotland.

"It's not difficult at all for the players because the way we're looking at it is we're back in the tournament and that's all we're focussed on.

"We know it's going to be a very difficult task against Atletico, but we'll give it our best shot.

"On our day, I think we can compete with anyone."

Celtic were in imperious form as they hammered Motherwell 4-0 to move into second spot in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday.

Neil Lennon's men were placed in Europa League Group I alongside Spain's Atletico Madrid, Italian side Udinese and French outfit Rennes.

However, Stokes is confident that, despite the disappointing nature of their performances in the defeat to Sion in the previous stage, the Glasgow side can make their mark on the tournament.

"We weren't at our best, to be fair, in the two games," he said.

"I think at home we played quite well, but we didn't take our chances and obviously things went against us when we went over there.

"We know it's going to be a very difficult task against Atletico, but we'll give it our best shot.

"We're determined to make the most of this second chance.

"We're delighted to be back in obviously and we're going to give it our best shot."
