New Kettering manager Mark Stimson says he relishes the challenge of getting the best out of the current squad.

Stimson took charge in the 2-0 win over Lincoln, but is yet to sign a contract with the Blue Square Bet Premier side.

He told BBC Radio Northampton: "The ex-manager put a good squad together. Hopefully, I'll not have to make many changes.

"The budget for next season has been spent so I'm going to try to get the best out of them."

He added: "That's the buzz I enjoy, on the training pitch, trying to make them into better players."

The former Gillingham and Barnet boss is expected to sign a contract with Kettering imminently.

"I'm very interested in the job. The chairman and I have spoken at length and we hope to get something done very soon.

"It's just to make sure that everything's right and he wants me to have a lot of control on the football side, and also that my members of staff who I need with me can come on board."
