Notts County manager Martin Allen feels he needs to make three more signings if the Magpies are to fight for promotion from League One this season.
Allen, who took over as boss from Paul Ince in April and helped save them from relegation last season, has guided Notts to ninth in the table this term.
But he told BBC Radio Nottingham: "For us to challenge I think there are three positions I need to improve.
"I still haven't strengthened how I really wanted to."
Allen added: "I said all along I wanted two players, two positions strengthened.
"But I think I probably need three positions strengthened - not two - having reviewed it."
Allen is still hopeful he can bring in some loan signings to help his promotion push.
"I have to knock on the door and let the powers that be know," he said.
"I have always said there are two key positions I need to fill. I haven't managed to strengthen in those areas."
