Morecambe chief executive Rod Taylor has praised the start manager Jim Bentley has made to management.
The Shrimps are on a seven game unbeaten run in League Two and currently sit on top of the table.
"I can't say that we saw it coming but its been a great start everyone is working hard and its a real bonus," Taylor told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"Jim was a brave choice but he was absolutely the right choice, he was the stand out candidate."
Bentley succeeded Sammy McIlroy who left the Lancashire club by mutual consent at the end of last season.
Taylor added: "We didn't really get going at all last season, especially at home but its been a complete contrast this year.
"The boys have based themselves at Morecambe, Jim's ensured that training is locally and at the Globe Arena at times to make it feel like home.
"Our first aim has got to be that 48-50 point target that's the case for any club I think.
"Anything beyond that is a bonus and we've got to be optimistic."
