Burnley 1-1 Southampton

Substitute Morgan Schneiderlin scored a late equaliser as Championship leaders Southampton rescued a point at Burnley.

The Clarets led through in-form Charlie Austin, who latched on to Jay Rodriguez's knockdown to poke home from six yards.

Southampton pressed for a leveller and got it when Daniel Fox's cross fell to Schneiderlin and he fired home.

Both teams could have won it with Burnley's Andre Amougou heading wide and Lee Grant denying David Connolly.

The Saints went into the game on a four-match winning run and started brighly, with Rickie Lambert missing the target from former Claret Fox's brilliant cross when he should have done better.

Austin's close-range goal, his fourth in as many games, gave Burnley hope of a first home win this season.

Saints had chances, with Lambert heading against the bar and Adam Lallana missing the target with two free headers - but they got their point when Schneiderlin found the net from close range.
