Southport 0-4 Braintree Town

Braintree climbed into the play-off places after an impressive victory away at Southport.

Chibuzor Chilaka converted a Kenny Davis cross to give Braintree the lead, before Southport's Dan Walker almost drew his side level but blazed over.

Sean Marks then doubled the scoreline when his free-kick evaded everyone to find its way into the net.

Victory was secured when Jai Reason slotted home from inside the box and Andrew Yiadom scored from close range.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Southport manager Liam Watson told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"We've been on a good run and we've fallen from a massive height and I've no complaints with the result.

"Alan Moogan and Godfrey Poku have been the driving force behind our good run, but one was injured and the other suspended.

"Our good run was always going to end and it's not going to be a case of doom and gloom, it's how we now react after coming off the run."

Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire told BBC Essex:

"We started slowly, probably for the first ten minutes, but after that we played some stuff.

"Winning 4-0 away from home against anyone is a fantastic result, I'm so pleased for the lads.

"We blew them away at times, some of our passing and movement was really good."
