Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has claimed it is about time his defenders received praise for their contribution this season.

Posh held on to a 2-1 lead against Burnley on Saturday to record their first win in four games.

"At times you've got to give them credit," Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"Everyone thinks we're all about attacking football, but we've got some good defenders and we showed it."

He added: "I thought my back four were magnificent, Ryan Bennett gave a brilliant performance."

It was the first time Posh had found the net since their 7-1 hammering of Ipswich four weeks ago, with striker Emile Sinclair scoring a brace in his first start for the club since arriving from Macclesfield.

"I think he's created five or six chances for himself," Ferguson added.

"We knew what we were buying, he's a little bit raw, but he's quick

"He's got the discipline to play and occupy two centre-halves, to allow our more footballing type of players, Lee Tomlin and George Boyd, to roam around."
