Defender Peter Gilbert believes Southend United carry a real threat from set-pieces this season.
Gilbert headed his first goal for the club from a corner in Saturday's 2-0 League Two win at home to Plymouth.
He told BBC Essex: "You work on things for hours, day in day out, and it's just for that one 30 second set-piece.
"Everything has got to fall into place, you put a lot of hours in for such a short space of time, when you get your rewards."
Gilbert's goal was his first since scoring for Plymouth in October 2003. The win moved Southend up to sixth in the League Two table.
