Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson is considering recalling striker David Ball from Rochdale in order to let Nicky Ajose out on loan.
Ajose has made one Posh appearance, while Ball has scored three goals during his spell at Spotland.
"I've let David Ball go out and get some football at a decent level and he's done very well," Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"It might be a case of David coming back and Nicky going out."
He added: "I've got to consider the players and I've got to keep them up to scratch, maybe the month away will have done David some good."
Ball's spell at Rochdale is set to end on 1 December.
Meanwhile, Ferguson said he does not intend on adding veteran defender Christian Dailly to his side.
The 37-year-old, who last played for Portsmouth, featured in a reserve match against Ipswich on Tuesday.
"I know him well from playing for Scotland with him, he's looking for somewhere to train," the Posh boss explained.
"I felt playing in the game would do him a favour but also us, because I felt a bit of experience alongside Josh Thompson might help him, that's all it is."
