Andre Villas-Boas has hit back at critics who described his side as 'naive and stupid' following their performance against Manchester United.
The Chelsea manager reacted angrily to comments that followed the 3-1 defeat last weekend.
They now sit five points behind the leaders but he believes his side were the best team.
"Pity we didn't come away with the points but I think we were superior during the 90 minutes," he said.
"I find it strange that people related to football don't know where to position themselves regarding what is best for football and what is best for fans, because fans are the most important part of our game.
"It was an entertaining game for the world," he added.
Swansea City are the visitors to Stamford Bridge this weekend, looking for their second successive victory in the Premier League, following last weekend's 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.
Their last victory at Chelsea came back in 1925, on their first of nine visits and Villas-Boas, is hoping that statistic remains.
"We are five points behind the leaders and we have to try to shorten the distance as we try to progress with a couple of wins."
