Kettering 0-1 Kidderminster

Kidderminster moved up into the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off places with victory at troubled Kettering.

The Poppies hit the headlines in midweek after strikers Moses Ashikodi and Jean-Paul Marna were sent off for fighting each other.

Jamille Matt latched on to Jack Byrne's through ball and controlled well before powering home for the winner.

Debutant Kiernan Hughes-Mason went closest for the hosts but his shot was well saved by Dean Lyness.

Kettering, who were showing six changes from the team that lost 5-3 to Hayes & Yeading, sit in the Blue Square Bet Premier relegation zone.

Kidderminster were good value for their win and move up to fifth.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Stimson not surprised by lack of interest

Kettering Town manager Mark Stimson told BBC Radio Northampton:

"Overall performance, I can't ask any more. I'm disappointed that we didn't score, that we didn't get a bit of luck in front of the goal.

"You've got to give everything and the boys did that without getting a break.

"I'd have liked to see a couple more threaded passes, to try to split the defence a little bit."
