Torquay United 'wimp-like' in defeat, says manager Ling

Torquay United manager Martin Ling says his side put in a 'wimp-like performance' in their 2-0 League Two loss at Shrewsbury Town.

The Gulls conceded early goals in each half to go four games without a win.

"The second half was a poor performance from all 14 players and me as well," Ling told BBC Devon.

"The three subs didn't have any effect on the game and probably made us worse, not better. It was a wimp-like performance in the second half."

Ling continued: "That's not having a go at the three subs, but as a team, as a 14 today, and as a coaching staff, we didn't do our jobs properly."

Torquay have taken the lead just three times this season and Ling has stated that he wants his side to start matches better.

"We can't keep coming back, we've been in front three times this year and we've won all three games, that probably says it all.

"The side that gets the first goal will win an awful lot more games and we haven't done that on enough occasions," Ling added.
