Peterborough United are braced for a lengthy absence to forward Lee Tomlin because of an ankle problem.
The 22-year-old was removed 30 minutes after coming off the bench against West Ham on Saturday.
And Posh boss Darren Ferguson fears the former Rushden & Diamonds attacker has damaged ligaments.
"He could be out for a while. He's got a scan on Tuesday which we'll get the results of maybe late Wednesday," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
"But we expect him to be out for a while."
Meanwhile, left-back Ben Gordon has returned to Chelsea after Posh brought and end to his loan spell, which was set to run until January.
Ferguson says he is unlikely to add a replacement: "We've got the international break coming up it would be unwise to bring somebody in when we've got no games."
