Blackburn captain Chris Samba says his team have to show "more heart" after dropping into the relegation zone with a 3-1 defeat by Newcastle on Saturday.

Samba told BBC Radio Lancashire: "We need to have more will, more heart, everything we can improve.

"As a team and as individuals we have to ask ourselves questions and come into the game with a different attitude and to be tougher, much tougher.

"It is on ourselves. You need to force your own destiny."

He added: "We need to do that, we need to create more chances, push forward more and be tougher at the back."

Rovers have picked up just four points in six games and have conceded 13 goals.
