Shrewsbury injury problems worsen

Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner insists that he has enough depth in his squad to cover a spate of injuries.

Skipper Ian Sharps (calf) has missed three games and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff (hamstring) has been sidelined for two matches since the 3-2 win at Port Vale.

Carl Regan (calf) has been out since August, while Reuben Hazell (knee) was injured in Saturday's win over Torquay.

"We're a bit short of cover, but players like Matt Richards who can do a job," Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"And Ian Sharps could be back soon."

Sharps could be in contention for a return to the first team squad for Friday night's trip to Southend, but Cansdell-Sherriff is likely to be missing for another week.

And the Town physios are still assessing the extent of the damage to Hazell's knee, following the challenge by Renee Howe on Saturday at the Meadow which earned the Torquay player a straight red card for violent conduct.
