Notts County manager Martin Allen says veteran striker Lee Hughes is on the verge of signing a new contract.
Hughes, 35, signed an extended deal in July 2010 which keeps him at Meadow Lane until the summer of 2012.
Allen told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He's about to sign a new contract. Lee could still play in the Championship. Some of the goals he's scored are amazing."
The former West Brom, Coventry and Kidderminster forward has scored six goals in 11 games so far this season.
He also netted in a prestigious friendly against Juventus on 9 September.
