Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson will continue to review the fitness of defender Gabby Zakuani on a game by game basis.

The 25-year-old suffered a broken toe against Stevenage back in August, but has started the past five matches.

Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I don't know anyone like Gabby to be honest. He's just played five games with a broken toe.

"He wants to keep getting injections and he'll be fine for Saturday."

Ferguson has Scott Wootton and Josh Thompson available as cover, but is anxious to keep Zakuani in the side.

The former Fulham and Leyton Orient man has formed a formidable central defensive partnership with Ryan Bennett

"After Saturday we've got a two week break, so I'll give him a bit of rest at that point," Ferguson said.

Peterborough secured their first away league win of the season in the Championship at Portsmouth on Tuesday night.

Ferguson has urged his side to build upon their strong start to the season over the coming weeks.

"We're nine games in and we've competed in every one, but we've got to keep believing in ourselves or we won't be successful," he said.
