Tranmere Rovers forward Adam McGurk says his team have a renewed confidence this season.

Rovers are 11th in League One and McGurk told BBC Radio Merseyside: "Our performances have been positive and I don't think we've played badly.

"It's a big month but everyone is looking forward to it and everyone is thinking we can go into every game and win home or away now.

"There are points to get and there is also a cup game as well on Tuesday. "

He added: "We want to do well in the cup as well to try and get to Wembley."

Tranmere host Bournemouth at Prenton Park on Saturday, with the Cherries just one point above the relegation zone.

McGurk understands what his side need to do and says they must have a a repeat performance of the 2-0 win over Wycombe on 17 September.

"We're expected to win and it is down to us to go and put a performance out," said McGurk. "I think against Wycombe it was more about the result because we'd lost the two before that.

"Especially at home, I think the main thing is getting the three points and if you can take any points away from home that's a bonus.

"If we play well like we did against Preston last Saturday I think we'll get the points."
