MK Dons boss Karl Robinson says Charlie MacDonald's injury is not as bad as first feared, but could keep the striker out for over a month.
The 30-year-old damaged a thigh against Sheffield Wednesday three weeks ago.
"Charlie had his scan results back on Tuesday, they were positive," Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio.
"Maybe a month, or a bit longer than that, but it's a very vague injury. We hope it's not going to be as long as what they first said."
He added: "It's a thigh problem, you've got to let it settle and see where it goes from there, so you're just waiting on his body to recover."
MacDonald has scored three goals in four games since joinng Dons from Brentford at the end of August.
