York 6-2 Braintree Town

York thumped Braintree to move into the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off spots.

Ashley Chambers opened the scoring then Patrick McLaughlin's neat finish and Jamal Fyfield's backheel made it 3-0.

McLaughlin notched his brace from distance before Sean Marks and Aswad Thomas got the visitors back in it.

Braintree's David Stevens was sent off for a foul in the area, Jason Walker converting the penalty, before Adriano Moke made it six and Andrew Yiadom also saw red for the visitors.

The result means the Minstermen move into the play-off places at the expense of the visitors, who drop to seventh.

Yiadom's red card in injury time, for a lunge on Chris Smith, compounded a miserable afternoon for the Iron - he had only entered the field as a 77th-minute substitute.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

York City manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio York:

"From start to finish today we've played some great stuff on our front foot.

"They were in the top five before we started today and you can probably see why.

"They started well but once we started getting hold of that ball we opened them up."
