Port Vale have placed midfielder Gary Roberts on the transfer list.

The 24-year-old was suspended for two weeks on 19 September for a serious breach of club discipline.

When asked if Roberts would return to the first-team squad on Monday, manager Micky Adams told BBC Radio Stoke: "No, he's got a lot to do.

"If somebody treats their profession, his manager, team and supporters with the contempt he did, he's got a lot to do to get back anywhere near the side."

Roberts failed to attend training on Sunday, 18 September, a day after a 3-2 home defeat by Shrewsbury.

And, according to Adams, Roberts reported in "unfit to carry out his duties" at the training session on Monday.

The former Crewe trainee had started the campaign in excellent scoring form, finding the net five times in his first nine matches.

Vale have also confirmed that defender Lee Collins will require an operation to cure a groin injury that has kept him out of action since the end of August.
