Torquay boss Martin Ling says his side's draw with Morecambe was a great improvement on their 2-0 loss at Shrewsbury Town the week before.

Ling called the defeat 'wimp-like', but was happy with his side's reaction against the League Two leaders.

"After the Shrewsbury game I came out and criticised 14 people and the staff, I won't be doing that today," Ling told BBC Radio Devon after the draw.

"We've matched League Two's top of the table team."

Ling also praised skipper Lee Mansell who grabbed his fifth goal of the season.

"You get what you see with Lee," said Ling.

"Sometimes there's a misplaced pass, but if there's a misplaced pass he'll chase after it to get it back.

"He's got five now and was released a bit today and allowed to push on."
