Cameroon midfielder Mbia on the mend after injury

French side Marseille are confident midfielder Stephane Mbia will return to action in the next few weeks to boost their tottering campaign.

The Cameroon international has been out of action since fracturing a bone in his left foot two months ago.

Marseille have been struggling without the midfielder as they currently lie 13th in the table.

They are hopeful Mbia will be fit to return to action after the international break to boost the side.

"His recovery is going very well," Marseille coach Didier Deschamps said after Sunday's 1-1 draw against Brest in the French top-flight league.

"He is in the final phase of his recovery and it will take some few weeks for him to return to training with the first team."

Mbia sustained the injury in August during Marseille's 2-2 draw with Auxerre, when an opposing player fell on him.

He missed last month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius.

The midfielder will not be available when they take on DR Congo in their final Group E game on Saturday.
