Gateshead winger Josh Gillies has extended his contract until the end of 2011 after breaking into the club's first team during September.
The 21-year-old has scored once in six games this term as the Tynesiders moved to the top of Blue Square Bet Premier.
"Gillies has grasped his chance with both hands," said manager Ian Bogie. "He has done well and must now perform consistently to stay in the side.
"He is one of a number of talented youngsters and has had to be patient."
Gillies, who joined the club from Whitley Bay in June 2010, has made 25 league appearances in total, scoring twice.
