Tanzania captain Shadrack Nsajigwa has been ruled out of Sunday's crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco because of injury.

The defender suffered the groin injury while training with the Taifa Stars ahead of the Group D game in Marrakech.

Doctors have now confirmed that he will not lead the squad when they play the Atlas Lions in the key game.

"Scans have shown that the best course of action for Nsajigwa is rest and rehab," Tanzania FA spokesman said.

"He is disappointed but it is a straightforward decision because he would not be fit enough to play in their last Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco in Marrakesh on Saturday," Boniface Wambura added.

Nsajigwa's absence is a massive blow for the Taifa Stars who are chasing their first appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in thirty years.

Meanwhile, Simba Sports Club defender Nassoro Masoud has been handed a late call to replace Nsajigwa.

Tanzania will enhance their chance of qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations if they defeat the Atlas Lions on Saturday.
