Alfreton Town have parted company with Drewe Broughton after less than a month following his red card in the 5-2 defeat by Grimbsy Town on Saturday.

The 32-year-old striker, who was on non-contract terms, was sent off for violent conduct having just returned from a three-match suspension.

Reds chairman Wayne Bradley told the club's website: "His actions on Saturday were unacceptable.

"As a result we have severed relationships with the player."

He added: "We understand he's disappointed with himself but we have made our decision."

Broughton played just two games for the club after picking up a three-match ban on his debut and received a further four-match ban following the weekend's incident.

The Reds have seen two other players leave for different reasons, Steve Brogan has joined Blue Square Bet North club Stalybridge Celtic and Andy Holdsworth has joined their league rivals Guiseley.
