Third Division Peterhead have named former Morton and East Stirlingshire boss Jim McInally as their new manager.

Following a playing career that took him to Dundee United, Dundee and Celtic, the 47-year-old won the Second Division championship with Morton.

He also helped Shire to a Third Division play-off place twice.

McInally replaces John Sheran, who was sacked from the Balmoor hotseat last month, and will take charge of the team against Stranraer on 15 October.

Peterhead are currently second-bottom of the table, a point clear of McInally's former club Shire.

"Jim's football credentials are outstanding but he also brings a wide network of contacts and expertise which will be crucial in bringing success to our football club," said Peterhead chairman Rodger Morrison.
