Age is simply a number to evergreen Preston midfielder Graham Alexander.
This weekend Alexander, who returned to Deepdale in the summer from Burnley, is likely to become only the second 40-year-old to represent North End.
He told BBC Radio Lancashire: "Turning 30 was a big one because when you're a young player and see anyone in their thirties you think they are ancient.
"I'm sure to everyone else I'll still be a old man whether I am 34 or 40, so it makes no difference."
Alexander is in his 22nd season as a professional, having made his debut for Scunthorpe in April 1991. He has gone on to represent Luton and Burnley, as well as playing more than 400 games in two spells at Preston. He has also won 40 international caps for Scotland.
Bob Kelly became the oldest recorded player to have represented Preston when he appeared in a FA Cup tie in 1935 at the age of 41 years and two months.
