Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance has backed Steve Ogier to be successful in the FA Inter-League Cup with his island side.
The island are the reigning cup holders, but with Guernsey FC playing in the Combined Counties League, many of that side are unavailable.
Vance coached Guernsey to the title and says Ogier will do a good job.
"I would have liked to have been involved again but it wasn't possible so Steve's taken over the reigns and I'm sure he'll do a good job," he said.
"It's tough for him to try and get a squad because effectively players need to be in two places at once, but hopefully they'll get a result."
Guernsey face the Devon and Exeter League in Cullompton on Saturday with a squad that bares little resemblance to the one which won the former National League System Cup.
But Vance says that the opportunities for new players will benefit island football.
"He's looking for development opportunities as well as having some experienced heads in there," Vance added.
"It's great for those players, they've got the opportunity that perhaps, if Guernsey FC wasn't around, they maybe wouldn't get so soon."
