Blackpool have signed former Newcastle United and Portsmouth striker Lomana LuaLua on a deal for the remainder of the season.

The 30-year-old DR Congo international was a free agent following his release by Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia.

Kinshasa-born LuaLua began his career with Colchester in 1998, before moving to the Magpies two years later.

After returning from the Africa Cup of Nations in 2004, he joined Portsmouth, initially on loan.

But after struggling to break back into the first team following an ankle injury at the start of the 2006-07 season, he saw limited opportunities which eventually led to a move to Greek side Olympiakos the following year.

He had recently been training with League One side Hartlepool United.
