Northern Ireland striker Liam Boyce has left Werder Bremen after just 13 months with the German team.

The 20-year-old former Cliftonville player joined the Bundesliga club's U23 team after an impressive start to his career at Solitude.

Boyce's contract, which was due to run until the end of the season, has been terminated by mutual consent.

The forward, who made his Northern Ireland debut in February, had a week-long trial with Oxford United in July.

At the time Bremen said they would sell Boyce if anyone matched their valuation for him.

Boyce scored 19 goals in his debut season with Cliftonville and was named Northern Ireland football writers' player of the year as a teenager.
