Former Scotland international Gavin Rae has rejoined Dundee on a short-term contract.
The midfielder, who started his career at Dens Park before leaving for Rangers, left Cardiff in the summer and has signed a deal until January.
And the 33-year-old goes into the squad for Saturday's game with Ross County.
"I'm sure having a high profile player like Gavin available for this game has given the players and supporters a lift," said manager Barry Smith.
Rae was linked with a move to Aberdeen in the summer and says he had a couple of offers in England but has chosen a return to First Division Dundee, where he made his debut in 1996.
"I wanted to get back into football and get the buzz back," explained Rae, who played 14 times for Scotland.
"I know the place and the club has been brilliant for me over the years.
"I've signed until January and we'll take it from there. I still feel I can play at a higher level but this club means more to me than worrying about that."
