Ayr United 0-0 Livingston

Scottish Football League

Ayr moved off the foot of the Scottish First Division after they earned a point in a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Livingston.

The hosts came close to scoring midway through the first period when a volley from striker Michael Moffat drew a fine save out of Livi's goalkeeper Andrew McNeil.

Livingston had a couple of half-chances in the first period but Craig Barr and Marc McNulty both missed the target with headers.

Mark Fotheringham made his debut for the visitors and Ayr's goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert did well to hold onto his drive from the edge of the penalty area early in the second half.

Ayr could have taken all three points late on but McNeil denied Edward Malone from close-range.
