Nathan Elder grabbed the only goal as Hereford United beat Barnet to leapfrog them out of the relegation zone, with the Bees dropping into the bottom two.
The Bulls started brightly, Harry Pell heading against the crossbar from Joe Heath's cross after only two minutes.
Barnet's Ricky Holmes, Mark Hughes and Izale McLeod were all denied by David Cornell before Elder headed home Nicky Featherstone's corner.
Holmes hit the Hereford crossbar late on but the hosts held on for the win.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Hereford director of football Gary Peters told BBC Hereford and Worcester:
"I don't think it's about the players. I think it's about the way the team reacts as a team.
"When I looked at previous games from earlier in the season I felt there were 11 individuals out there trying to play attractive football.
"I won't say that we are playing well yet, but we have got 11 working as one and because of that we are a bit more solid."
