Iyseden Christie's second-half penalty earned Tamworth a point at Southport.
Tony Gray headed the home side into the lead with his seventh goal of the season from Shaun Whalley's cross.
Christie levelled for the visitors from the spot after Patrick Kanyuka was brought down by Vinny Mukendi in the penalty area.
Southport went close to snatching all three points but were denied by Samuel Habergham who cleared Whalley's shot off the line.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Southport manager Liam Watson told BBC Radio Merseyside:
"I don't think we were ever in the game but you've got to give the lads credit for grinding out a result when they haven't played well.
"I thought the game as a spectacle was poor and there wasn't much quality from either side.
"But I always say a point in the Conference home or away is good and it's a better point when I openly admit we haven't played well."
