Bruce vows to turn Sunderland around

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce vows to "turn things around" as his side slip to 17th after losing 2-1 away at Arsenal, for whom Robin van Persie scored a stunning brace.

Having fallen behind to the Premier League season's quickest goal - Van Persie scoring after 29 seconds - the Black Cats were level when Sebastian Larsson curled a free-kick past Wojciech Szczesny.

Sunderland went close to taking the lead just before half time when the Arsenal keeper kept out Lee Cattermole's close-range header, but they succumbed after Robin van Persie curled a free-kick into the top corner in the 82nd minute.
