Kettering's Laurie Walker not excusing early results

Kettering goalkeeper Laurie Walker says the number of new signings the club has made is "no excuse" for their early season results.

The Poppies started the season with one win in seven games prior to Mark Stimson's appointment as manager.

"A brand new squad is no excuse for the results we had but it takes time to gel," he told BBC Radio Northampton.

"We've had a shaky start to the season but the manager has come in and everything is much more professional."

Kettering are now unbeaten in three matches under Stimson, who replaced Morell Maison as manager, and Walker picked up his fourth clean sheet of the season in the 1-0 win at Forest Green Rovers.

"There's no better feeling than keeping a clean sheet and getting a win at the same time," said Walker.

"[Stimson] likes hard working people and he's getting that from his team."
