Everton have re-signed James McFadden three years after he left the club to join Birmingham.
The Scotland international forward has been without a club since his summer departure from St Andrew's.
He had trained with Wolves, and both Mick McCarthy's side and Celtic were keen on signing the 28-year-old.
However, McFadden has opted to link up again with Everton manager David Moyes and will stay at Goodison Park until the end of the season.
McFadden missed almost the whole of last season with a serious knee injury and Birmingham chose not to offer him a new contract after they were relegated from the Premier League.
The Scot played 109 games for Everton between 2003 and 2008, scoring 11 goals, before joining Blues for £5m.
