Hull City left-back Joe Dudgeon believes the club can bypass the play-offs and achieve automatic promotion.
City are unbeaten in their last seven games and currently stand sixth in the table, two points off the top two.
Dudgeon told BBC Radio Humberside: "We'd be mugging ourselves off if we aimed for the play-offs.
"We should be aiming for promotion straight away because if we perform like we did against Brighton then not many teams will beat us."
With five clean sheets in 11 league games, the former Manchester United player says defensive solidity is a big part of the reason why the Tigers are flying high in the Championship.
"We've got a great relationship at the back. We work for each other and we put that down to hard work as it doesn't come easily," he said.
"We're working at that every week and after every game we watch clips to look at things we can improve on."
Dudgeon continued: "James Chester is playing some of the best football I've seen from him and I've known him for a good few years.
"Jack Hobbs is putting in captain's performances every week and [Liam] Rosenior is just solid with man of the match performances."
