Barnet battled hard until defender Darren Dennehy received a second yellow card for pulling down Hall.
Neil Harris tapped in a third as Southend stay second and Barnet remain second from bottom.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Southend manager Paul Sturrock told BBC Essex:
"It was a difficult game. We had a hard game on Saturday. We took a lot of energy out of ourselves, so I did feel fresh legs were needed.
"The boys responded very well. Football is a squad game in this day and age and one of them got a goal as well.
"(Anthony) Grant came in. Bilel hasn't had many starts lately, and Hall got to play in a position he doesn't normally get to play in, and I thought the wee bit of freedom was the real benefit."
