Tranmere Rovers defender David Buchanan believes the club are good enough to push for a League One play-off place.

Rovers have taken eight points from their last five matches in a run that has included games against Charlton and Preston and they sit 11th.

"We're looking to kick on and maybe threaten the top six," Buchanan told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"At the minute we feel we're playing well enough to beat anybody in the league or at least give them a game."

Tranmere are currently four points off the play-offs.

Buchanan happy with start at Tranmere

Buchanan, 25, a summer arrival from Hamilton, believes to keep the momentum going Rovers must now focus on catching the teams above them in the table.

"We know how difficult this league is. There's teams at both ends of the table capable of taking points off each other.

"At the minute we are at the right end of the table looking forward and that's what we've got to concentrate on," said Buchanan.

"There's no point looking behind us. We have to take each game in our step and take each opposition as they come."
