Morecambe 2-1 Gillingham

Morecambe got their third home win of the season by beating Gillingham.

Garry Hunter gave the Shrimps an early lead, when he produced a fantastic volley from the edge of the area.

Despite Gillingham enjoying a large share of the possession, the lead was doubled when Izak Reid's cross was met by Kevin Ellison, who smashed home.

The Gills did grab a goal back in the dying minutes through Frank Nouble's penalty, after Barry Roche brought down Jo Kuffour.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler told BBC Radio Kent:

"We were not good enough. It's been a disappointing week for us. We had good possession but were too sloppy. Two mistakes have cost us and we go home pointless.

"We've had enough opportunities but switched off and got punished.

"We went to Swindon where it was a good performance but lost the game. Today we made poor decisions. If you're not going to score you have to make sure you don't concede."
