Preston North End striker Jamie Proctor could be out for up to six weeks as he requires surgery on a hernia.
The 19-year-old is set to have to have an operation on 1 November.
Proctor, who has scored twice this season, will be available for Preston's League One game against Oldham Athletic at Deepdale on Tuesday.
"We've got the operation booked in as early as possible and I'm going to try and get back as quick as I can," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I'm available for selection, hopefully I can take part in the next two games."
North End are without injured strikers Iain Hume and Neil Mellor for the clash with Oldham.
