Swansea City's on loan defender Steven Caulker is targeting Manchester United's visit to the Liberty Stadium as his comeback match from injury.

Champions United will face the Premier League newcomers on 19 November.

Caulker, 19, has been out with a knee injury since early September but has now returned to light training.

"I want to get myself back in full training in the lead up to the Manchester United game. I want to be pushing hard for that one," he said.

After joining on a season's loan from Tottenham Hotspur in July, Caulker quickly established himself in Swansea's line up with impressive displays in the opening four games of the season.

But a heavy clash during the 1-0 defeat at Arsenal resulted in knee cartilage damage and an expected nine-week lay-off.

After starting his rehabilitation with Spurs, Caulker returned to Swansea's training field on Tuesday for some light work with the medical staff.

The England Under-21 international said he feels his comeback is ahead of schedule but is wary of pushing himself too hard is the hope of being fit for the 5 November visit to Liverpool.

"I spoke with Ledley [King], who has had a lot of recurring knee injuries over the years,'' added Caulker.

"I think it made me realise that as a 19-year-old I shouldn't rush back before I was fully recovered just in case.

"I'm ahead of schedule with my recovery and I could probably push myself to get back in two weeks.

"But I want to make sure it's right for the long term.

"With another week or two rehab under my belt that will take me up to the recommended nine weeks recovery period."
