Crawley extended their unbeaten run to nine games but failed to get all three points as they were held by Hereford.
Tom Barkhuizen put the Bulls in front when he shot into the bottom corner from Simon Clist's precise pass.
Dannie Bulman fired over for Crawley, but the visitors grabbed an equaliser through Andy Drury's 20-yard effort.
Crawley pushed for the winner in the second half but Scott Neilson and Hope Akpan both dragged efforts just wide as Hereford held on for a valuable point.
The Red Devils are now two points behind leaders Southend, while Hereford are four points clear of the relegation places.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman told BBC Hereford and Worcester:
"I think we more than matched them, especially in the first half.
"In the second half it was more difficult with the slope [against us] and their keeper launching it to the edge of the 18-yard box.
"But I think we showed up very well as, if we didn't win the second half we won the first one, and I thought we competed very well."
