Guyana winger Ricky Shakes' 20th-minute goal gave Ebbsfleet United victory at Spytty Park.
Defeat added to Newport's troubles in the relegation zone as the hosts lost at home for the fourth time in five attempts this season.
Shakes profited from sloppy defending after following up Callum Willock's shot to hit home from close range.
Substitute Robbie Matthews saw his header go wide as Newport sought an equaliser in vain.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish tells BBC Radio Kent:
"It was a great away win and shows how football can change - it's the exact opposite of how I felt last week.
"I said to the lads I could have changed two thirds of the side, I had a few options and that can make a difference.
"I thought we deserved it and it was a big three points after difficult circumstances (in the FA Cup) last week.
"It's been a poor week, a lot of words have been said, but we've reacted today. We had a reaction from players and everyone and we've given the supporters, who have travelled a long way, something to put a smile on their face.
"That's us unbeaten in five in the league, we've got a home game coming up and the lads will draw confidence - we showed real spirit as a team."
