Blackpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey says it is vital that the Seasiders now build on Wednesday's 5-0 win at Leeds.

Shelvey, on loan from Liverpool until 31 December, hit his first professional hat-trick at Elland Road.

But, on a bad night for ex-Blackpool keeper Paul Rachubka, Shelvey told BBC Radio Lancashire: "If we play like that again no one will be able to stop us.

"And, if we get three points at Millwall on Saturday, it'll get us right back into contention."

The victory, Blackpool's first in three games, moved Ian Holloway's men back up to eighth in the Championship.

And, following Saturday's defeat at Lancashire rivals Burnley, aided by a brace of goals too from Lomana Lua Lua, 19-year-old Shelvey admits that it was the perfect time to return to winning ways.

"It was a great performance," said the Romford-born England Under-21 international. "Not just from me but the team.

"We didn't start well on Saturday, although I thought we deserved to get something out of the game with the second half performance there.

"But we went to Leeds with a game plan and it was a great match to play in.

"From the word go, we were right on form. We took the gaffer's words in from the start and proved it out there."
