Macclesfield Town have confirmed they are appealing against the red card given to Vinny Mukendi in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Burton Albion.
The 19-year-old was sent off just 11 seconds into the second half after coming on as a substitute.
"The kid's got his eye on the ball all the time and won the header," Macc boss Gary Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester. "There's no intent whatsoever.
"Coming off, their players were saying it's never a sending off."
The DR Congo Under-20 international striker was adjudged by Wiltshire referee Brendan Malone to have used his elbow in an aerial challenge with Burton defender Ryan Austin.
But Mukendi said on Twitter: "What happened wasn't a foul. The manager and the players know I never touched him. The ref had a poor game, but that's football."
